Wire mesh packing is generally used in clean gas-liquid systems that contain no solid particles, may have solid impurities, or are prone to polymerization. The common layer heights of wire mesh packing are 100mm, 150mm, and 200mm. There are almost no restrictions on its manufacturing diameter, length, or width dimensions. Optional materials for wire mesh packing: 304, 316L, copper, titanium, etc. Recommended operating temperature for stainless steel wire mesh packing: (-200, 400) °C.

Type 250(AX) wire mesh corrugated packing features a large hydraulic diameter, high void fraction, and small specific surface area, making it suitable for occasions with high production capacity but low requirements for the number of theoretical plates. At a pressure of 0.1-10 KPa, the F-factor can reach 3-3.5 (m/s)*(kg/m3)0.5 at approximately 75% of the packing's flooding point. When the pressure is 10-100 KPa, this value drops to 2.5-3 (m/s)*(kg/m3)0.5. Type 250(AX) wire mesh tower packing has limited industrial applications.
Type 500(BX) wire mesh corrugated packing has an indistinct flooding point. Typically, an F-factor of 3.2 (m/s)*(kg/m3)0.5 is referred to as the flooding point, and 75% of this value, i.e., an F-factor of 2.4 (m/s)*(kg/m3)0.5, is defined as the operating point. Through a comprehensive trade-off between physical properties, pressure drop, and efficiency, its most economical gas load range is determined to be 2-2.5 (m/s)*(kg/m3)0.5, with a minimum liquid irrigation density of 0.05 m³/(m²·h). It is suitable for the vacuum distillation of thermosensitive and difficult-to-separate systems, among other applications.
Type 700(CY) wire mesh packing is suitable for the separation of isotope mixtures, isomers, and other substances.

Characteristics and Applications of Wire Mesh Packing:
(1) Superior separation performance: the liquid forms a stable film on the mesh surface, featuring high surface wettability, good gas-liquid distribution, small liquid holdup, high mass transfer efficiency, low fluid resistance, large flux, wide operating flexibility, and small scaling-up effect. It is suitable for precision distillation and high-vacuum distillation, and particularly applicable to the separation of difficult-to-separate materials and thermosensitive materials.
(2) Its price is relatively higher than that of orifice structured packing, and it is generally used in small-diameter towers.
(3) With thin wire diameter and thin material, its corrosion resistance is slightly weaker than that of orifice packing.
(4) Prone to clogging and difficult to clean, it is suitable for clean materials, and the configuration of appropriate filtration devices is preferred.
When wire mesh corrugated packing is assembled in the tower, the corrugated sheets of the upper and lower packing layers intersect at 90° to facilitate gas-liquid distribution and mixing. The diameter of the packing disk is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the tower, and the specific recommended value of the reduction depends on the inner diameter of the tower and the block arrangement.
